How Tan Concierge SMS messaging works
This page describes the SMS messaging program operated by Tan Concierge on behalf of independent beauty service artists (spray tan, lash, brow, peel, and related services) who use the Tan Concierge platform to manage their client communications. It covers what messages are sent, who they come from, how clients opt in, and how to opt out.

Who sends the messages
Tan Concierge is a software-as-a-service platform used by independent beauty service artists in the United States and Canada. Each artist who subscribes to Tan Concierge is issued an SMS sender (a 10-digit phone number registered to Tan Concierge Inc.) through which she communicates with her own clients about their appointments.
Tan Concierge is the brand and registered sender of every message. Each text is sent from a 10-digit number owned and registered by Tan Concierge, and each message identifies Tan Concierge as the sender (for example, “Tan Concierge: Hi [Name], quick intake before your appointment…”). A message may also reference the name of the independent artist the client booked with for context, but the messaging brand the client consents to is always Tan Concierge.

What messages clients receive
All SMS sent through Tan Concierge are transactional, service-related messages initiated by the client’s appointment booking with her artist. Tan Concierge does not send marketing, promotional, advertising, or third-party content over SMS.
Message categories:
- Intake form invite. Sent within minutes of the client booking an appointment, asking her to complete a short intake form before the service.
- Welcome to their client portal. One-time message after the intake form is submitted, with a link to her personal portal where she can view formula notes, aftercare, and rinse timers.
- Prep check-in. Optional reminder 24-48 hours before the appointment with pre-service instructions (shave, exfoliate, etc.).
- Aftercare instructions. Sent shortly after the service with rinse time, hydration tips, and care guidance.
- Photo prompt. Optional reminder around fade day to upload progress photos to her portal.
- Review request. Single message a few days after the service inviting her to leave a review.
- Rebook nudge. Single message when she is approaching her typical re-booking window.
- Loyalty milestone. Notification when she earns a punch or unlocks a reward on her artist’s loyalty card.

Message frequency
Message frequency varies by the client’s appointment cadence. A typical client receives between 3 and 6 messages per appointment (intake, prep, aftercare, review, photo prompt, rebook), spread across roughly two weeks. Clients who book monthly therefore receive on the order of 12 to 24 messages per year.
Clients do not receive any SMS outside of their own appointment lifecycle. There are no bulk marketing broadcasts, no third-party messages, and no messages unrelated to the client’s booked service.
Message and data rates may apply. Tan Concierge does not charge for SMS, but standard carrier rates apply based on the recipient’s mobile plan.

How clients opt in
Clients opt in through an in-app intake form that the artist sends them after they book an appointment. The opt-in is explicit, written, on-screen, and voluntary. There is no implied consent, no pre-checked boxes, and no opt-in by text.
Important — voluntary and independent
A phone number is not required to complete the intake form or receive service. A client can (a) submit intake with no phone number at all, (b) submit intake with a phone number but decline SMS consent, or (c) submit intake with a phone number and consent to SMS. All three paths are allowed, and the client can change her mind at any time by replying STOP. Consent to SMS is never a condition of booking, purchase, or using the service. When a client declines SMS consent, all future communication from her artist goes through email and her in-app client portal.
The flow:
- The client books an appointment with the artist (in-person, by phone, or through the artist’s booking site).
- The artist’s Tan Concierge account sends the client a unique intake-form link by SMS or email using the contact info the artist collected at booking. If the client has not previously opted in, this initial message is a one-time transactional confirmation only.
- The client opens the intake form. The form has multiple sections (skin type, past experience, event context, hospitality preferences, etc.). None of these sections requires a phone number. Providing a phone number is a single optional field with the label “Mobile number (optional).”
- Independent of the phone-number field, there is a separate section titled “SMS updates from Tan Concierge” with a single unchecked checkbox and the consent language shown in section 05. This checkbox is unchecked by default. Leaving it unchecked and submitting the form is a fully valid path.
- On submit, the client’s consent state is stored along with a timestamp. If she did not check the SMS consent box, no SMS is ever sent to her by Tan Concierge or through it, and no message about the SMS program is triggered. Her intake form still submits, her portal is created, and she can be served by her artist entirely by email + portal.
Visual reference
The two areas below are shown side-by-side to make clear that they are independent sections. The phone field lives in its own contact area. The SMS opt-in is a fully separate section further down the form, with its own header, and is never adjacent to the phone field. Either can be filled or skipped without affecting the other.
Contact — optional
You can leave any of these blank.
─ separate section, later in the form ─
SMS updates from Tan Concierge — voluntary
Check the box below only if you want to receive text messages. This is completely optional. You can complete intake, book, and be served entirely without it.

Exact consent language
The full text shown next to the consent checkbox on the intake form is:
“I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Tan Concierge about my appointment, prep, aftercare, photo log, follow-up, and loyalty rewards. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.”
The consent box names Tan Concierge as the messaging brand the client is opting in to. The client’s individual artist or studio may also be referenced in the body of a message for context, but Tan Concierge is the registered sender of all SMS and the brand the client consents to here.
06
How to opt out
Clients can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message they have received. Tan Concierge processes STOP requests immediately and permanently. Once opted out, the client receives one final confirmation message and then no further SMS until she affirmatively opts in again by completing a new intake form.
Other recognized opt-out keywords: STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPTOUT.
Confirmation message sent on STOP: “You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.”
07
How to get help
Clients can reply HELP or INFO to any message. The auto-reply is:
“Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg&Data Rates May Apply. For help contact hello@tanconcierge.com.”
Clients can also reach our support team directly by emailing hello@tanconcierge.com at any time.
